Abstract

This article explores the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in pedagogy, focusing on its theoretical foundations, practical applications, and policy implications in the context of Nepal. The concept of pedagogy is examined within the framework of educational practice, highlighting its evolution and complexity in relation to ICT. ICT integrated pedagogy is defined as a dynamic approach to teaching and learning that leverages technological tools to enhance flexibility, efficiency, and effectiveness in curriculum delivery.

The theoretical underpinnings of ICT integration draw from frameworks such as Vygotskian theory, emphasizing the transformative potential of ICT in reshaping cognitive agendas and educational paradigms. Practical applications of ICT in Nepalese education include online learning platforms adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating ICT's role as a tutor, tool, and tutee in educational settings. Challenges such as infrastructure limitations and teacher training needs are identified, necessitating strategic policies to support ICT implementation.

Policy frameworks in Nepal, such as the School Sector Reform Plan and ICT Master Plan, underscore the government's commitment to expanding ICT infrastructure and integrating digital technologies across educational domains. However, gaps in policy implementation and the need for continuous professional development for educators are critical areas requiring attention.

The article concludes by advocating for ongoing research and evaluation to inform evidence-based practices in ICT integrated pedagogy. By addressing these challenges and leveraging opportunities, Nepal can foster a more inclusive and effective educational system that prepares students for the demands of the digital age.
