As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

SJEST is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research articles related to the field of education, science, and technology. We publish high-quality research that advances knowledge and understanding in these areas.

These guidelines are designed to help you prepare your manuscript for submission to SJEST.

Manuscript Submission

  • Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the SJEST online submission system ([link to submission system]).
  • Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the following guidelines.

Manuscript Format

  • Font: Use a standard 12-point font (e.g., Times New Roman, Arial).
  • Line Spacing: Double-spaced throughout the manuscript.
  • Margins: Use one-inch margins on all sides.
  • File Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file format.
  • File Naming: Save your manuscript file with the first author's last name and the year (e.g., Smith2024.docx).

Manuscript Structure

  • Title Page: The title page should include the title of the manuscript, the names and affiliations of all authors, and the corresponding author's contact information (including email address).
  • Abstract: The abstract should be no more than 250 words and should provide a concise overview of the research question, methodology, main findings, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords that accurately reflect the content of your manuscript.
  • Introduction: The introduction should provide background information on the research topic, identify the research gap, and state the research questions or hypotheses.
  • Literature Review: The literature review should provide a comprehensive and critical overview of the relevant literature.
  • Methodology: The methodology section should describe the research design, participants, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures in sufficient detail.
  • Results: The results section should present the findings of the study in a clear and concise way.
  • Discussion: The discussion section should interpret the results in light of the research questions or hypotheses. It should also discuss the implications of the findings for theory, research, and practice.
  • Conclusion: The conclusion should summarize the main findings of the study and offer recommendations for future research.
  • References: The reference list should include all sources cited in the manuscript. References should be formatted according to the American Psychological Association (APA) style guide (7th edition).

Bibliographic and Formatting Standards

  • In-text citations: Use the author-date citation format (e.g., Smith, 2023). For citations with more than two authors, use the first author's last name followed by "et al." (e.g., Brown et al., 2022).

  • Reference List: References should be listed alphabetically by author's last name. For multiple works by the same author, list them chronologically, with the earliest work first. Here are some examples of common citation formats:

    • Journal Article: Smith, A., & Jones, B. (2023). The impact of technology on education. Journal of Educational Technology, 20(3), 123-134.
    • Book: Brown, C. (2022). Education in a digital age. Routledge.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and placed within the text where they are first mentioned.
  • Each table and figure should have a clear and concise title.
  • Tables and figures should be formatted for readability and should not contain excessive data.
